Jack “Tank” Shore is a bantamweight fighter out of Wales. He’s been in the octagon since 2012, and started training when he was only 6 years old. In 2016 he was signed by Cage Warriors based in London, and started producing immediately. On his incredible professional run he has had 10 finishes, 5 by TKO, and 5 by submission, boasting an impressive 11-0 record. He is ranked 1 out of 181 active UK/Ireland Pro Bantamweights. Other fighters that have come from Cage Warriors include, Gegard Mousasi, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Michael Bisping, Dan Hardy, and Conor McGregor.
Jack describes his fighting style as one that keeps pressure on his opponent and he mentions that he is always looking to finish a fight. He dreams of fighting in famous venues such as Las Vegas or Madison Square Garden and with his ability to stay focused on his goals and to finish a fight I can see it happening!
Shore has finally gotten his call up to the UFC and is going to take on Nohelin Hernandez at UFC Copenhagen September 28th, and I for one can’t wait. The Sky is the limit for Jack and I’m excited to see what he can do on the big stage.
We contacted Jack and asked him a few questions so we could get to know him before he starts his career with the UFC. Please read below and like/leave a comment to tell us what you think!
How did you first get into fighting?
” I started training kick boxing at age 6, then at age 12 my father Richard Shore opened the Tillery Combat Gym, and I’ve been competing and training under the gym ever since. “
Have you traveled to the states before?
” I’ve traveled to Albuquerque, New Mexico where I trained for a month at the famous Jackson Wink academy with my team mate Jack Marshman. We shared the mats with the likes of Jon Jones, Cowboy Cerrone and Diego Sanchez. “
Who are some opponents you dream of fighting?
” Anyone that would solidify me as one of the best in the world. It would be a privilege and honor to fight any of the guys in the top 5. “
Did you expect it to take as long as it has to get the call to the UFC?
” Yes I feel like it came at the right time. I’ve proven myself as the best bantamweight in Europe outside the UFC. My last two fights I stopped the top two guys in the division, Malone and Ekundayo, and there were no challenges left for me, so now I move on and get to fight some of the best guys in the world. ”
Where are you most excited to get to fight, other than your hometown?
” Obviously I’d love to fight in some of the worlds most famous arenas! A fight in Vegas or at Madison square garden in New York would be a dream come true. “
Have you ever heard of your opponent before UFC contacted you to fight him?
” Yes I watched my opponents last fight against Marlon Vera, he’s a high level athlete and I’m sure it’s got all the makings of a great fight. “
How do you envision your fight playing out?
” I see it being a tough fight where I have to fight smart. I see me getting the finish late on. “
What is your favorite post weight cut meal?
” It’s got to be a pizza. I’m strict on my diet for 10 weeks before a fight so I’m always ready to demolish one post fight 😂 “
Who were the first people you told when you got signed to the UFC?
” Just my close friends and family and obviously my coaches! “
How would you describe your fighting style?
” Id describe my self as a good all rounder, who constantly brings pressure and looks to finish! “
Do you have a favorite strike that you like to put people away with?
” Nothing specific, any strike that puts someone away feels great! “
Who inspired you the most to get into MMA?
” My coach and dad Richard Shore. I grew up watching him fight as an amateur and pro and always looked up to him and my teammates Jack Marshman, Kris Edwards and Martin Mr. Pink McDonough when I was young! “
Are you nervous at all for your first fight in the UFC?
” I’m honestly not nervous in the slightest. I’ve dedicated my life to get to this stage, so I’m filled with excitement and can’t wait! “
After you win your next fight do you plan on making a quick return or taking some time off?
” Providing income through injury free and everything goes to plan I’d love to fight again before Christmas, but I take one fight at a time and am fully focused on Copenhagen for now! “
If you could hang out with anyone for a day, who would it be, and why?
” Have to be the legend LG Liam Gallagher because I’m a huge fan boy😂”
