JJ Aldrich (7-3) Vs Lauren Mueller (5-2)
To start the night of fights in the beautiful sunshine state you will have JJ Aldrich taking on Lauren Mueller. JJ Aldrich is coming off a TKO finish courtesy of Maycee Barber. Lauren Mueller won her debut fight, and then dropped one by submission, and decision. Aldrich has looked like the more complete fighter. She lost to Maycee Barber but there were times in that fight where I thought she was on the verge of ending it. Where as mueller hasn’t shown much mueller really only have the size advantage whereas Aldrich has the experience the footwork and the crisp boxing. I got JJ Aldrich getting it done and getting the submission.
Marvin Vettori (13-3-1) Vs Andrew Sanchez (11-4)
this fight was originally slated for a couple weeks back. Marvin Vetorri has been in there with Israel Adesanya, and only lost by split decision. Vettori is coming off a dominating performance against Cezar Ferreira. Hes 1-2-1 in the UFC he’s not really super impressive to me but he’s young and still has time to get better. The only thing is Vettori is a pressure fighter, and Andrew Sanchez is not. Sanchez is really well rounded and if every fight was only round 1 than he would win most of them but at last they’re not. Sanchez gasses every single fight his cardio is a major issue and I think Vettori knows that and makes it really tough on him inside the cage. Vettori should win this won by unanimous decision.
Hector Aldana (4-2) Vs Miguel Baeza (7-0)
Hector Aldana is coming off back to back losses against Laureano Staropoli, and Song Kenan. Aldana faces a reach disadvantage in this fight and that doesn’t help him at all. Miguel Baeza is another Contender Series veteran. He hits pretty hard and has a really strong chin on him. The only thing is he’s still young in the fight game so he makes basic mistakes. At the end of the day I think Miguel Baeza hits way harder than Aldana and if they brawl Baeza will eventually crack him and send him to the canvas.
Marlon Vera (16-5-1) Vs Andre Ewell (15-5-0)
The fact this fight isn’t on the main card is crazy to me. Marlon Vera is on a 4 fight winstreak all by stoppages over some pretty game opponents. He’s looked mightily impressive every time out since his last loss to Douglas Silva De Andrade. Andre Ewell is 2-1 in the UFC his only loss coming to the impressive young fighter in Nathaniel Wood. Personally I think this has a chance to be a fight of the night. Unfortunately Ewell is good but he hasn’t face anyone of Chito Veras caliber except Nathaniel Wood and we saw how that went. Both fighters are good but I give the edge to Marlon Vera because he looks for the finish and he hasn’t slowed down at all in his last four fights. This will be tough fight for Vera but he’s my pick to win.
Deiveson Figueiredo (16-1) Vs Tim Elliot (15-8-1)
This is another fight that I’m really surprised isn’t on the main card. Figueiredo is the BEST flyweight not named Joseph Benavidez, or Henry Cejudo. Deiveson is coming off a dominating fight against Alexandre Pantoja. Figueiredo has insane punching power, good wrestling, and great cardio he is really the full package. Other than Formiga he’s been able to avoid the ground, and figure out the way to get the win. He has gotten the knock out In 3 of his UFC fights including the incredibly tough John Moraga. Tim Elliot honestly shouldn’t be fighting Deiveson he’s been extremely inactive he hasn’t fought in two years. He doesn’t really pose a threat to Deiveson at all anywhere except maybe if the fight hits the mat, which if it does Deiveson will most likely get back up. Elliot leads with his face and I think that’s a recipe for disaster. I got Figueiredo getting the TKO stoppage, and Elliot finally tasting that canvas for the first time in 10 years.
Max Griffin (15-6) Vs Alex Morono (16-5)
Max griffin is a very inconsistent fighter he dropped his first two fights against Colby Covington, and Zaleski Dos Santos then beat Mike perry than dropped two close decision, and finally got a VERY narrow victory against Zelim Imadaev. Personally I didn’t even think he won that one but hey more power to him right. Max Griffin is going to have the wrestling advantage in this fight. Morono is coming off back to back finishes for the first time in his career the only thing is they were a Josh Burkman, and Zak Ottow. Morono has virtually no chance in winning this fight unless Max Griffin stands and bangs with him the whole time. Morono hasn’t had a successful takedown in the UFC. I’m expecting Griffin to fight him just like he fights everyone he will look to piece him up a little, and then take him down and wear on him. Griffin will win he might even get the TKO stoppage.
Devin Clark (10-3) Vs Ryan Spann (16-5)
Ryan Spann is a Dana White Contender Series veteran once he got the contract he made his debut against Luis Henrique where he won by decision. Spann’s next fight was against the legend Antonio Rogerio Nogueira where he won via KO. Spann has had 9 submission victories in the first round. Devin Clark is another young fighter trying to make a name for his-self. Devin Clark is wildy inconsistent hes coming off a decision victory against Darko Stosic. Ryan Spann has the reach advantage, the power advantage, the cardio, and the chin. Clark really has one path to victory and that’s hold Spann against the fence every round. Spann trains out of one of the best camps in FortisMMA and i believe they are aware Clark is gonna look to do that, so I got Spann hitting him with a elbow off the clinch cracking him getting on top and getting the submission victory.
James Vick (13-4) Vs Niko Price (13-3)
Niko Price is always looking to put on a show hes won 5 fights all by way of stoppage. James Vick is a fighter who looked like he was going to be the next best thing. that is, until he met Justin Gathje who flatlined him in under 2 mins. since, that finish hes dropped his next two. Price should win this fight by first round knockout. The only reason i’m saying he should win is because Vick is moving up in weight so his chin might hold up, and he could pick price apart but i doubt it.
Eryk Anders (12-4) Vs Gerald MeerSchaert (30-11)
Eryk Anders is A very Athletic fighter with a devastating right hand. the only thing is he just recently got into mixed martial arts so hes still a student of the game. He’s gone from middleweight to light heavy weight and now back to middle weight again. I personally love Eryk Anders and hes been training with FortisMMA for this bout. Gerald Meerschaert is a submission specialist who can really get it done against anyone on the mat. unfortunately for Meerschaert I think Anders is smart enough to know hes going to be looking at getting taking down a lot in this fight. I think Anders stuffs all of his takedowns and eventually gets the TKO stoppage courtesy of that right hand.
Matt Frevola (7-1-1) Vs Luis Pena (7-1)
Matt Frevola is another Dana White Contender Series veteran. He’s 1-1-1 in the UFC he Dropped his UFC debut in under a minute by a knockout from Polo Reyes, then went to a draw with Lando Vanatta, and eventually getting his first win against Jalin Turner. Luis Pena is a TUF veteran he’s 3-1 in the UFC. Pena has more UFC experience being on TUF, and with one more fight but personally i feel he isn’t that impressive he beat a fighter in Richie Smullen who is now in bellator, he beat a 45 year old Matt Wiman, and Steven Peterson. His only loss is from Mike Trizano and i believe that Frevola is a smart fighter and can implement the same gameplan Trizano used to beat Pena. Frevola is also a Ray Longo product and hits harder than Trizano so I’m going with the upset and taking Frevola here.
Mackenzie Dern (7-0) Vs Amanda Ribas (7-1)
This fight i belive is going to be a grappling affair. Mackenzie Dern is a really decorated BJJ Specialist. On the other hand though Amanda Ribas has A great background with a black belt in judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Mackenzie Dern has had the much more tougher opponents the only thing is she just had a baby four months ago so that might slow her down. Amanda Ribas beat Emily Whitmire who is about as average as it gets. i really don’t know what to expect from this fight I want to say Dern gets the W but all depends on how she does with making weight, and how she looks after recently giving birth.
Mike Davis (7-2) Vs Thomas Gifford (17-8)
This fight is a hard one to call. Thomas Gifford was originally supposed to fight Brok Weaver, now hes gotta face Mike Davis. Mike Davis is taking this fight on four days notice, but Gifford was gameplanning for Brok so both fighters are ad a disadvantage. Mike Davis is coming off a submission loss to Gilbert Burns, and Thomas Gifford is coming off a decison loss to Roosevelt Roberts. Thomas Gifford looks for the submission he’s had ! of his 14 wins come by way of submission. Gifford definitely has the advantage in fight experience but Davis the Florida Native is the more well rounded fighter and has only loss to Sodiq Yusuff and Gilbert Burns. I’m picking Davis to get the win in his homestate the only thing that concerns me is his cardio. hes taking this fight on just four days notice.
Cub Swanson (25-11) Vs Kron Gracie (5-0)
This is a hard fight to call you obviously got the Veteran Cub Swanson in one corner who’s been a student of the game for forever. In the other hand you got a pretty inexperienced fighter but he has unbelievable submission skills. Cub seems to struggle against people with strong BJJ backgrounds. Unfortunately I don’t see cub having any chance to win this fight. He has 7 submission losses on his record all Gracie has to do is get the submission locked in once and it’s over. The only chance cub gets is by pulling a full Hail Mary.
Joanna Jedrzecjzyk (15-3) Vs Michelle Waterson (17-6)
A lot of stories have been circling around this main event. Personally Michelle Waterson is a good fighter but I don’t really think she’s a great one yet. She’s on a nice little win streak currently though the only thing is she beat 8-7 Courtney Casey, an average Felice Herrig, and a declining Karolina Kowalkiewicz. She’s looked better but, Joanna is still levels above her in my eyes. She’s only lost to Valentina Schevchenko, and former champion Rose Namajunas. I see Michelle getting pieced up for 5 rounds and getting the unanimous decision victory. We’re in for a great night of fights let’s go!
